Amico File Manager and Your Privacy

Last Updated: 17 October 2026

Amico File Manager is a file manager. It reads and writes the files you point it at, on your own Mac, and that is the whole of it. Amico Labs Ltd (“Amico”, “we” or “us”) does not collect, receive or store any of it.

The short version

  • The app makes no network calls of its own. There is no server for it to talk to.
  • No account, no sign-in, and we do not collect your name, email or contact details.
  • No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.
  • Your files, their names and their contents never leave your Mac.

What stays on your device

The app keeps a small amount of state so it behaves sensibly between launches: which folders you granted it access to, the folders in Quick Access, the sort order you chose for each folder, your view and window preferences, and the addresses of servers you have connected to. All of it is stored on your Mac in the app's own container, and none of it is transmitted anywhere.

Folder access

The app is sandboxed, so it begins with access to nothing outside its own storage. When you choose a folder through the standard macOS panel, the system grants access to that folder and the app stores a security-scoped bookmark so the permission survives a restart. That permission is held only on your Mac, in the app's own storage. Granting access tells your Mac to let the app read those files; it does not send anything to us.

Cloud files

If you browse a folder synced by iCloud Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox, the app shows what those services report, and asks before downloading anything that is not already on your Mac. Your relationship with those providers is governed by their own privacy policies; Amico is not a party to it and never sees your account.

Network volumes

Connect to Server asks macOS to mount a share. The connection, and any credentials, are handled by macOS and stored in your Keychain. The app never sees, stores or transmits your credentials. It does not even hold the macOS permission to make network connections: it has no way to reach the internet itself.

Crash reports

If you have chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports. They describe what the app was doing when it crashed and contain nothing that identifies you. If you have not chosen to share them, we receive nothing.

Children

The app collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect the substance to change.
